Job Fair

On Tuesday, May 13, Wayne County Public Schools (WCPS) will hold its second Job Fair for the year. The district is working to attract prospective certified employees, such as teachers and school counselors, as well as prospective classified employees, such as bus drivers, cafeteria workers, maintenance staff, transportation staff, instructional assistants, receptionists, and other non-certified positions. The upcoming Job Fair will be held in the Gertrude Weil Auditorium of the main Wayne County Library branch in Goldsboro from 2-5 PM (located at 1001 E. Ash St. in Goldsboro)

“We encourage qualified applicants with an interest or desire to work in our schools to attend this job fair,” states Dr. Yvette Smith Mason, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources & Professional Development. “We will have Human Resources and departmental representatives on hand to answer questions about qualifications, salaries, and benefits. We will also walk prospective employees through the application process."

WCPS offers competitive salaries and touts annual pay increases for classified staff, state health benefits, and retirement benefits. In addition, WCPS and the Wayne County Board of Education have put in place salary schedules for classified positions which offer a 30 step salary schedule with annual salary increases. Other key employment incentives include:

  • Competitive pay supplement for teachers, principals, and APs

  • Starting pay for new school bus drivers is $17.32 per hour and up to $22.33 per hour based on years of service.
